Financial Aid Program
The Hatzilu rescue organization provides food to anyone in need, no questions asked. However, people needing financial assistance are required to fill out an application. A member of the social welfare committee gets assigned to the new potential client and reviews the application thoroughly and visits the client. If a client has problems filling out the application, we are there to answer any questions or assist.
The application process, including the visit, is often done quite quickly so that the case can be presented at the next social welfare committee meeting. Social welfare meetings are held monthly. At the meeting, the case is reviewed and it is determined whether or not this client is truly in need and whether or not we should help. Then we determine the size of the monthly cash grant. In rare extenuating cases, when a client is in a dire emergency state, a one time, immediate emergency grant can be issued for a client before filling out an application and before the committee meets, as long as three social workers on the committee agree that the need is truly there.
